AFLCR Lecture Series – Professeur Pagan wows local francophiles

Professeur Martine Pagan shared her expertise on French language and la Francophonie with a packed audience of local francophones at our King Street location on September 7th. Prof. Pagan was in town with her husband Prof. Jacques Dalarun visiting U.V.M. History Professor and AFLCR member Sean Field, a long-time friend and colleague of theirs in medieval studies. They came via a professional gathering held in Montreal at the end of August. It was thanks to Prof. Field that the connection with us was possible, and we thank him profusely for having arranged and helped organize this particular lecture. Both French professors teach alternatingly between l’Université de la Sorbonne and the University of Bologna, Italy. Mme Pagan was also President of the Alliance Francaise in Bologna for two years, so she was particularly delighted to share her love of the French language with the members of the AFLCR. It is our sincere hope that the dynamic couple will return to visit again in the near future. Their warmth and generosity, not to mention their vast knowledge in the domain, were palpable when after Prof. Pagan’s lecture attendees had an occasion to socialize and ask them questions. Prof. Pagan’s knowledge of the forming of the French language was particularly fascinating and can be found in part here in the slides she prepared for the September 7th lecture. Mille mercis pour une soirée inoubliable et nous espérons pour le début d’une relation qui continuera dans l’avenir!2018 Pagan PowerPoint
