Genticorum, May 11

Attention fans of French Canadian fiddle music! This year’s Young Tradition Festival in Burlington will feature a performance by Genticorum, a leading group in the traditional Québécois music scene.

Pascal Gemme (fiddle, vocals) and Yann Falquet (guitar, jaw harp, vocals) founded the group in 2000 and were joined in 2015 by multi-instrumentalist and composer Nicholas Williams (flute, accordion). The trio perform their own compositions, interwoven with traditional fiddle music. All lyrics are in French.

Genticorum has toured internationally and released six albums and four EPs, to critical acclaim in Canada and abroad. They have received Juno and ADISQ nominations and four Canadian Folk Music Awards. Read more about them on their website.

Opening for them at their Burlington concert will be 20 teen performers of the Young Tradition Touring Group.

When: Saturday, May 11, 7pm

Where: Contois Auditorium, Burlington
