Samuel de Champlain Colloquium

Samuel de Champlain forever changed our region’s history by naming its green mountains “le Vermont.” His maps and travel journals offer unparalleled insight not only into the discoveries he made in his repeated trips, but into what it took to make each mission successful.

This colloquium was a must for teachers wanting to inject their curriculum with this history. Guest speakers and presenters not only brought the man and his adventures to life through original documentation, but also showed how his leadership inspired and valued those who dared travel with him to Nouvelle France.

The Lake Champlain Maritime Museum is located on Lac Champlain just west of historic Vergennes, Vermont. Thanks to the Department of Foreign and Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures at St. Michael’s College for including us in this important project.

Half-price admission was available to AFLCR members.
