In 1960s Paris, Jean-Louis lives in his typical bourgeois home with his perfect, neurotic, socialite wife Suzanne and their two children. They interact very little with the servants on the sixth floor (“les chambres de bonnes”) until Maria, their new Spanish maid, opens a window onto the lives of the immigrant women living right over their heads.
Cultural and social differences are brought to light, framed by the humor and humanity of the actors and directing.
