Adamant Music School will present internationally acclaimed pianist Spencer Myer in a free solo recital featuring Claude Debussy's complete
Préludes, Books I and II, on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 7:00 pm in the Chapel at the Montpelier Performing Arts Hub, 36 College Street,
Montpelier. Admission is free.
Among some of the most imaginative works written for piano, Debussy's Préludes form a richly varied tapestry of musical portraits. Drawing
inspiration from literature, mythology, nature, and twentieth-century Parisian culture, the cycle carries listeners through a succession of
vividly contrasting worlds, each revealing a different facet of Debussy's extraordinary imagination.
The complete Préludes have become a signature work for pianist Spencer Myer, who has presented the cycle in recitals throughout the United
States. Praised by the Boston Globe for his "superb playing" and "poised, alert musicianship," Myer has
appeared as soloist with major orchestras throughout North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. He is Associate Professor of Piano at the
Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
This recital inaugurates Adamant Music School Presents, a new concert initiative bringing Adamant's artistic programming into downtown
Montpelier. Founded in 1942, Adamant Music School is the oldest continuously operating summer piano school in the United States and has
welcomed generations of distinguished artists, teachers, and students to central Vermont.
