French Conversation: Films for Foodies

How many of us decided to improve our culinary skills this past year? How about some more inspiration? As we all know, la vie gastronomique is an essential part of Francophone culture. This class will explore the various roles that food plays in the lives of the main characters in films that range from the serious to the comical. Movie selections will be supplemented by interviews with chefs, as well as video clips that will motivate you to up your game dans la cuisine, or to simply talk about a topic you love. Learn some general film terms and how to express your opinions while improving your overall French skills. Films are available on Netflix, youtube, or amazon prime for free or low rental prices. Audio tracks may not always be available in en français, but our discussions will be. Films will be viewed before class, with vocabulary, suggested questions and topics provided in advance, so you can prepare what you would like to say.
