My name is Eloise Smith. I am a 20-year-old UVM junior with a double major in Psychological Science and Studio Art. Originally from New York, we moved to Darien, CT during my high school senior year. A fun fact, I actually attended 3 different high schools in 3 different states. I now live in South Burlington, VT with my Roommate and my kitten, Stella. My favorite place in the world is at our summer house in Maine. I love spending family time there and grew up sailing there. This summer I taught sailing on Lake Champlain at the Community Sailing Center. My background in French started by taking it in high school and I am currently studying French at UVM. I taught myself how to play piano, guitar and ukulele and I sing as well (some more fun facts), and I love to paint and draw in my free time. I am the oldest of three girls. We all have French names: Eloise, Alice and Lucie!
David Pearlman, Marketing and Communications Intern
Hello everyone! My name is David Pearlman and I’m a 3rd year student at the University of Vermont hailing from Fairfax Virginia. I’m a political science major in the college of arts and sciences with minors in history and biology. I’m a member of the club rugby team and UVMtv club. I took French in high school and always enjoyed it, but it wasn’t until I visited Brussels last January, and was so ashamed at my limited French knowledge, yet everyone there spoke perfect English for me! I decided then that I wanted to at least get myself to a conversational level in French. I’m particularly interested in French because of our proximity to Quebec here in Burlington and because one of my dream vacations is to bike through small towns in France eating in small cafes. Growing up me and my parents watched le tour de France religiously! I’m looking forward to increasing membership outreach with the alliance and hopefully writing a sports column for the newsletter! Allez les bleus!
