CANCELLATION POLICY:  Under-subscribed classes will be cancelled at the discretion of the AFLCR;  this is the only case in which refunds can be made. Usually 5 is the minimum enrollment to run a class.

11-Week Classes

Level A1 101: True Beginner Class

Are you ready to jump-start your French? If you are a true French beginner or someone who wants to resume your studies of French after a long period, this class is for you.  This is an introduction to the foundation of French where you will learn basic useful words and expressions used in daily situations.

Level A1 102: Formerly Beginner B

Want to express your preferences with your classmates and learn how to talk about projects you have in the near future?  This class will also introduce a bundle of irregular verbs (and commonly used in every day language).

Level A1 103: Formerly Intermediate A

Find out how to express situations that happened in the past, ask a variety of questions that require more than a “yes” or “no” answer, and discover ways to respond to invites. We will also learn to describe the weather and how to make appointments indicating time and dates.

Level A1 104: Formerly Intermediate B

This class will get you ready to ask for and follow directions, as well as locate hot spots when traveling in Francophone regions. This class will also guide you on advising others.

Advanced Conversation:  Quoi de neuf dans le monde?  – Class is full! –

Bavarder, c’est bon pour la santé! Come join us in a weekly conversation where students decide what to discuss and how to discuss it!  You will express your preferences regarding topics of conversations on current news events (sports, culture, science, international events, and more).  Grammar won’t be left aside — as with the content, grammar challenges will be approached as much as you want or need

Grammar you may cover:

  • Conjugation tenses:  present / past tenses /  futur /  conditional
  • Relative simple pronouns (qui, que)
  • Direct and indirect object pronouns
  • Simple logical articulators (en fait, alors, par conséquent …)

6-Week Classes

Québécois French & Sip 2

This class is the continuation of the introduction to Québécois French, for intermediate to advanced French speakers.

We will continue to explore the fascinating and challenging French spoken in Canada. We will look at pronunciation variances, vocabulary, and expressions that give us a peek into this independent French culture.  While using real samples of the language, students will recognize and be able to better understand patterns of Québécois French.  Students will have fun practicing the Québécois accent, listening to songs, and reading short texts.
