Burlington’s Role in the Early History of Film and Photography

April 25, 2022 @ 12:00 pm 1:00 pm

The Lumière Brothers, Louis and Auguste, from Lyon France, invented color photography in 1902, long before Kodachrome. Did you know they built a factory in Burlington to produce their Autochrome plates? And that this factory is the only one in the world still standing? It now houses the Burlington Beer Company on Flynn Avenue.

Our next Midi Présentation will be by Hugo Martínez Cazón, who has spent the past ten years researching the link between Burlington, the Lumières and the history of photography.  He will share with us the historical significance of his discovery and give some answers to an important question: why did the Lumières choose Burlington?

This presentation is online-only and will be in English. Attendance is capped at 30. To register, click here.
