Burlington and Honfleur sign a partnership agreement

October 8, 2012, a delegation from Burlington visited Honfleur. Members of the delegation were Senator Patrick Leahy and Marcelle Leahy, Ernie Pomerleau (honorary consul of France to state of Vermont), Christophe Guilhou (consul general from France to New England), Tom Torti (Chamber of Commerce), Doreen Kraft (executive director of Burlington City Arts), and members of the Honfleur Sister City Committee: Lise Veronneau, Lisa Schamberg, and Dana vanderHeyden.

The group signed a “partnership” agreement with the Honfleur hosts and exchanged gifts. (Such a relationship had first been discussed by Burlington mayor Bob Kiss and Honfleur mayor Michel Lamarre in a meeting in Honfleur o September 20, 2010.) Pomerleau presente Mayor Lamarre with a replica of the ship on which Samuel de Champlain sailed to New France in 1609, the Don de Dieu.  Mayor Lamarre presented the Burlingtonians with a large flag.
